This is a somewhat unusual walk visiting two super location but requiring a road walk to connect them. Starting at the pub in Glenealy we climb up to the eastern ridge line and walk it until we enter Deputys Pass Nature reserve a beautiful mixed native forest with many wild flowers including bluebells. After doing a figure of 9 loop (including a banana break), we exit the reserve using a 'recently engineered' exit on to the L1111 road.
After 2km of road we enter Kilmacurragh Botanical gardens. This is a hugely underrated national gem created by the Acton family and restored over the last 25 years by the OPW under the stewardship of the late Seamus O'Brien. During his period of management he restored these amazing gardens to their former glory and recreated a national treasure.
After lunch beside the southern hemisphere path, we will all together loop the ruined house walking to the most important paths at a very leisurely pace. The walk rests at the coffee shop. After refreshments we will walk to the gate to meet the bus(no sane driver would try to bring a bus in to these narrow roads).
Mainly wide paths
