Description
“A very strenuous walk which includes climbing to the summits of three of the Burren’s limestone hills Mullaghmore, Knockanes, Slieve Rua.
Highlights of this walk includes great views from the summits of parts of north Clare east Clare and east Galway. Two substantial prehistoric cairns crown the summits of Mullagmore and Knockanes. A remote upland hike with views around Lough Gealáin, through large expanses of open limestone pavement, some grassland and hazel woodland. The trail crosses Slieve Rua and descends onto an old famine road at Coolorta. The walking trail is a limestone landscape which can be rugged, uneven and steep in places, and may be rough underfoot.

Coming from Corrofin, follow the R476 in the direction of Kilfenora and Lisdoonvarna. Drive 3km from Corofin until you reach the village of Killinaboy. Take the right turn onto L1112 opposite Killinaboy’s former post office now known as XPO. Drive 5km down this road until you reach a crossroads. Park at the lay-by on the right just before the crossroads.
