The walk begins at Knickeen and follows the Safe Route on good ground to Black Banks Pass. From here with great views of the Glenmalure Valley we continue on to Table Mountain West Top. The route continues on open mountain to Lowbawn and up to Pinnacle with views of the Blessington lakes.  From here we descend through forest tracks to the Glen of Imaal road. There is a 1km road walk to the village.

Terrain & River Crossings

Terrain is mixed. A comfortable track to begin from Knickeen moving onto more challenging ground on Table Mountain and Lobawn with soft peat underfoot and peat hags to negotiate. The final descent around Pinnacle is good ground and forest tracks to Donard.

Gear Recommendations

Regular gear with sturdy boots and poles.
