From Donabate train station, visit the Old Square, to view St Patrick's Protestant Church (1758), burial site of many of the Cobbe family of nearby Newbridge House, and the Rectory (1810).
Returning to pass the station, walk through the main street, visiting St Patrick's Catholic Church, built of red brick from the Portmarnock brick and teracotta works (1850-1918). Continuing on the main street, until passing the boys national school, cross the road through fancy gates, take a woodland path right down to the coast.
Next stage is a coastal walk towards Portrane, lunching at Tower Bay beach.
Afterwards, walking on into Portrane, with its 2km beach, to view St Catherine's Church (14th century), and the Evans replica round tower. Then into the extensive grounds of the former St. Ita's Hospital , to admire the many beautiful red-brick buildings. Returning finally to the train station via Shoreline Hotel.
