Summary - Mahon Falls and Comeragh Plateau

This A walk is only available for registration to those already confirmed as participating in this "Away Weekend".  Further details (meeting point, meals) will be emailed directly to participants closer to the date.


Length km: 15.5   Climb m: 790    Duration hrs: 7:30

Description  We climb steeply up alongside the 80m high Mahon Falls.  We then head for the famous cliffs overlooking Coumshingaun.  We will then cross the plateau to walk high over several Coums and lakes before crossing some open ground to the car park.


Terrain & River Crossings  

We have to cross the Mahon River at the base of the Falls.  We will encounter some rough, hummocky ground here and there during the day but there are no further river crossings, a few minor streams.  Some parts can be boggy after rain.

Gear Recommendations 

Be prepared for all weathers regardless of the forecast.  Waterproofs required. Gaiters and poles recommended
