Description
Kilbride Five Peaks – Ballymorefinn 566m, Seahan 647m, Corrig 617m, Seefingan 722m & Seefin 620m. See a Megalithic Tomb, Mass Rock & Bronze Age Tomb along the way.
After 0.8km quiet narrow road walk from Kilbride Army Camp gate (2nd gate/barrier entrance coming from the city), we handrail the river to ascend easterly towards Seahan & descend over some cut down trees to join forest tracks. Turn southerly after leaving the forest in Ballymorefinn area, pass Mass Rock and arrive at Ballymorefinn hill before final ascent to Seahan summit. Heading south east for circa 1km, we take a 27m ascent to Corrig, our third peak just before lunch. Less than 2.5km in an almost due south direction brings us to Seefingan, our highest peak of the day hosting a megalithic tomb on this plateau. A 20m ascent after a gentle descent brings us to our fifth & final peak, Seefin, where we can visit the Bronze Age Tomb (or even go inside if you dare!!) A steep decent for circa 1km brings us back to the road & final 1km road walk.
Gear Recommendations : Poles (gaiters optional as only needed in very limited circumstances - ie on a very dry recce day!)
