Incident to report (yes/no)?
(If yes, complete Accident / Medical Incident Report Form)
Description. Meet at Bray Dart station at 10.30 am.
Proceed to Swan sanctuary and walk pier.
Return to dart station and head up Albert walk, climb gently towards Meath Road, Aravon Court. After a short stroll on Sidmonton Road we turn right onto Convent Avenue, climb a hill, steep but short and turn left into Loreto Grange.
This allows us to travel through pleasant residential areas that we would likely never visit
We arrive at Vevay Road, a main road looking at Tesco shopping centre turn left to arrive at the beautiful Putland Road. This wide majestic road boasts some really fine dwellings with substantial sites and lovely gardens. We will have views of Bray head on our right and the sea in front.
Putland road was laid out as a famine relief scheme by the Putland family in the mid 1800's. The road was originally referred to as the road of ten houses as that was the number of properties initially built. These houses stood virtually alone in the fields near Bray.
All downhill now on pavements until we reach Bray promenade, built between 1885 and 1890 with the entire coastal walkway completed in 1886.
The prom was constructed by the renowned Scottish civil engineer Robert Mc Alpine. The project was commissioned by William Dargan who brought the railway line to Bray turning it into a bustling seaside resort.
When we arrive at the upper end of the prom we will have Teddy's ice cream on our right and a choice of the Big Wheel or a Gambling Casino to amuse ourselves.
If we have any money left we will stroll along the prom, enjoy the newly upgraded bandstand and finish with refreshments in Finn Bees before returning to the dart station.
