Incident to report (yes/no)?
(If yes, complete Accident / Medical Incident Report Form)
Description
This is a loop walk which starts and finishes at Crone Wood Carpark. In summary, it includes Tonduff North & South, Corrig and Maulin before a return to Crone Wood Carpark.
From the carpark, we follow a forest track before crossing Ballyreagh Brook. We then follow an intermittent challenging track up to Tonduff North (642m).
We then proceed to Tonduff South (638m), then eastward to Corrig before reaching Maulin. We leave Maulin on a SE track to join the Maulin Way before finally taking a steep descent to meet the Wicklow Way and back to the car park.
Terrain & River Crossings
Please do not take any comfort from the relatively short distance. This is a challenging B walk with difficult terrain to include fallen trees, rocky sections, open and boggy ground with no clear paths. There are magnificent views when we reach Tonduff and Corrig.
No river crossing applicable.
Gear Recommendations
Usual gear, poles are essential due to the difficult terrain. We would suggest long trousers instead of shorts as there is a section of the walk where gorse/heather is prevalent.
