Description
Pat Nolan (Lead); Rita Tuohy (Sweeper) Walk Route: Main focus of walk is Glen Beach Cliff Walk, Wicklow Town. Starting from Wicklow Train Station we will go along by the working harbour and pier with its interesting array of primitive art. Then we go mainly close by the shore, heading south, then inland a bit till we pass Wicklow Golf Course. We reach the beach and cliff walk through underpass at the Golf Club. Then on to the Cliff Walk proper – lots of ups and downs on path. The path is stony so walking poles are definitely recommended. Break for lunch at Brides Head, an elevated site overlooking the seal colony. We continue on towards Wicklow Head lighthouse and return to Wicklow town via lighthouse approach road and Main Street. There are lovely views both sea-facing and inland. For start of walk we get to Wicklow via Rosslare Harbour train. Recommendation is to take the Rosslare train from Dun Laoghaire (Mallin) Station at 09:58. That Rosslare train starts at Connolly at 09.35, and in addition to Dun Laoghaire also stops at Tara St., Pearse, Bray and Greystones, so access the train at one of these if more convenient than Dun Laoghaire. Just apprise the walk leaders accordingly by email. We return to Dublin by Bus 133 leaving Wicklow terminus @ 15;00, or Bus 131 leaving terminus @ 15:30. The 131 goes to Bray station for connecting with DART. The bus gives a lot more flexibility and frequency than the train

A fair amount of terrain is on paved paths. A good chunk of the going is also up and down rocky paths.

Sensible gear for weather, good shoes for climbing. And poles for the rocky bits.
